Aqua Safari Tours
Departing from our Southwest Harbor location, we’ll shuttle you to the far western side of Mount Desert Island—an area locals fondly call the Quietside. This remote and peaceful part of the island offers a paddling experience free from hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, and heavy boat traffic.
We keep our groups small, with a maximum of 12 guests, to ensure a personalized and relaxed outing. All transportation is included, so you can simply enjoy the journey.
Each tour lasts about four hours, allowing ample time for wildlife viewing, relaxation, and insightful interpretation from our professional Registered Maine Guides. We spend 2½ to 3 hours on the water and make a stop along the way—usually on a beach or island—so you can stretch your legs and enjoy a snack you’ve brought with you.
These tours are beginner-friendly, and your guide will select the route based on the day’s wind, weather, tides, and group dynamics to provide the best possible experience. We typically paddle in Western Bay and Blue Hill Bay, often planning one-way routes that use nature’s forces to our advantage. Occasionally, conditions may call for a round-trip paddle.
Most guests will paddle in tandem kayaks, though solos may be available at the guide’s discretion on the day of the tour.
Please remember to bring water, sunscreen, quick-dry clothing layers, and shoes you don’t mind getting wet. We look forward to sharing this unique and tranquil part of the island with you.
Acadia Youth Kayaking
Our family-friendly tours launch from the north end of Mount Desert Island at beautiful Hadley Point Beach. These outings are ideal for families with children aged six and up, offering a fun and accessible way to explore the island’s natural beauty.
From Hadley Point, we paddle along a scenic, undeveloped shoreline with opportunities to explore quiet coves, paddle past small islands, and watch for local wildlife. It’s a peaceful, engaging experience that’s great for first-time paddlers and kids alike.
Each tour is limited to just 12 guests, ensuring a comfortable and personalized outing. The total duration is approximately 2½ hours, with 2 to 2¼ hours spent on the water. While we stay in our kayaks for the entire paddle, we take relaxing float breaks along the way to enjoy the views and chat about the surroundings.
We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, quick-dry clothing layers, and shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Join us for a relaxing and memorable paddling adventure the whole family will enjoy!
Oyster Tours
This unique tour offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about Maine’s thriving aquaculture industry—specifically oyster farming. Departing from Hadley Point Beach, this experience combines coastal paddling with a behind-the-scenes look at local aquaculture practices.
MDI natives, Joanna, and Jesse Fogg welcome you to their family farm: The Bar Harbor Oyster Co. Your Registered Maine Guide will provide a beautiful sunset kayak excursion to the farm which includes wildlife, oyster tasting, beautiful scenery and an Acadia sunset!
You will have the opportunity to paddle directly through the farm and get an up close and personal angle on how this native species is grown.
Oysters will be harvested and shucked onsite and served to you in your kayak by the farmers! Lots of opportunity for dialogue with the farmers so you can learn about local food systems, the culture of working waterfronts, and sustainable seafood.
Please bring water, sunscreen, quick-dry layers, and shoes you don’t mind getting wet. This is an unforgettable blend of adventure, education, and local flavor—perfect for curious minds and seafood lovers alike!
