Weather
We go out rain or shine! At Maine State Sea Kayak, we closely monitor weather conditions throughout the day using the most accurate sources available.
Tours are not canceled based on forecasts alone — our guides make the final call based on real-time radar and up-to-the-minute conditions, typically just before the tour begins. Maine’s coastal weather can vary dramatically over short distances — what looks stormy in town may be calm and clear on the water. Think microclimates!
Our guides will cancel a tour only for unsafe conditions, such as:
- Strong, sustained winds
- Thunderstorms or lightning
- Steady, heavy rain expected for the full duration of the tour
If we cancel a tour, we’ll do our best to reschedule you, or if that’s not possible, you won’t be charged.
